Privacy Policy

Last updated November 6, 2026

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use pubfilesopener.com (the "site"), which is run by PUB File Opener ("we", "us"). The short version: we keep your files only long enough to show you the result, we do not ask for your name or email address to convert a file, and we do not sell anything about you to anyone.

Files you upload

When you open or convert a .pub file, the file is sent to our servers, converted, and stored together with the PDF and page images made from it so that you can preview and download them. The same applies to each file in a ZIP batch.

  • Every uploaded and converted file is deleted automatically within 60 minutes of being uploaded. The Delete now button removes your file and its converted copies immediately.
  • Files are reachable only through a long, random link that is created for your upload and held by your browser. There is no public gallery and no way to browse other people's files.
  • Files are processed automatically. Nobody reads, copies, shares or reuses them, and they are not used to train software or for any purpose other than giving you the converted result.
  • The file name is stored with the file, so the downloads can be named after it, and is deleted with it.

Please avoid uploading documents you are not allowed to share with a third-party service.

Technical information

Like every website, our servers receive your IP address and basic browser information with each request. We use your IP address to limit how many conversions can be started per minute, which protects the service from abuse, and our hosting provider uses it for security. Your approximate country, worked out from your IP address, is used only to show the batch price in rupees for visitors in India and in US dollars for everyone else. We do not store your IP address with your files.

Free daily limit

Free conversions are limited to 10 per day. To count them, we keep two counters for the current day: one for your browser (identified by the cookie described below) and one for your IP address. Neither is stored as-is: each is replaced by a one-way code made with a random key that changes every day, so the counters cannot be turned back into your IP address or linked to you. The counters hold only a number, are not linked to your files, and are deleted within 2 days.

Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs, such as error reports, so that we can find and fix problems.

Payments

Single-file conversion is free and needs no payment details. If you buy a batch conversion, the payment is handled by Razorpay. You enter your card, UPI or other payment details directly into Razorpay's payment window; we never see or store them. Razorpay tells us the order ID, the payment ID and whether the payment succeeded. We keep that, together with the batch's price, its expiry time and the names and page counts of the files converted in it, only while the batch is open (24 hours after payment); the record is then deleted within another hour. The files themselves are still deleted within 1 hour. Razorpay keeps its own payment records as required by law; see theRazorpay privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure page speed. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not track you across other websites. We only see totals, such as how many people visited a page and which country they came from.

Cookies and browser storage

We set one cookie, pfo_visitor, when you convert a file. It holds a random ID, used only to count your free conversions for the day (see above). It is needed for the service to work, is not used for advertising or tracking, and expires after 2 days.

While you are viewing a converted file, your browser's session storage remembers the file's ID so that the preview survives a page reload. It is cleared when you close the tab or delete the file. If you pay for a batch, your browser's local storage remembers the batch's ID so you can come back and add files while it is open; it is removed once the batch has expired. Razorpay's payment window may use its own cookies to process a payment securely.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of service providers, only to run the site:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, file storage, security and analytics.
  • Render: file conversion. Files are processed there and not kept.
  • Razorpay: payment processing for batch conversions.

These providers may process data in countries other than your own, under their own data protection commitments. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if the law requires it, but since files are deleted within an hour there is usually nothing left to disclose.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe and the UK, the CCPA in California, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to how it is used. Because we do not keep accounts, delete files within an hour and keep the daily counters only as one-way codes, we usually hold nothing that can be linked to you. To ask a question or make a request, emailsupport@pubfilesopener.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be described here before they take effect.
